Description
VINTAGE NOTES
Heavy rains in the early summer of 2021 impacted pollination in the vineyard and resulted in a very light fruit crop. This was followed by record-setting heat and extremely dry conditions throughout the summer, which proved beneficial for optimal grape ripening. The combination of low yield and ample warmth produced a wine of exceptional balance, intensity, and grace.
This single-clone bottling comes entirely from Block C—our highest-elevation planting—positioned at the peak of our Dundee Hills estate vineyard. With multidirectional sun exposure and shallow volcanic soils, Block C supports slow, even ripening and delivers a unique expression of our vineyard.
tasting notes
Only a small selection of barrels were chosen for this single-clone bottling, aged 16 months in French oak (30% new). The result is a wine of balance and grace, offering both concentration and lift. The 2021 Clone 777 opens with aromas of cranberry, cedar, and spice, giving way to layers of cherry, plum, and cocoa. Silky textures and bright acidity carry through to a vibrant, enduring finish.
